London Woodland

These paintings were made in Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park.

Unlike some Victorian city cemeteries in London this one had not been maintained. It was very over grown when I first began using it as a subject for my paintings.

I found woodland/greenery a fascination within the urban setting. I wanted to understand why the green within the countryside appeared different from the green in the urban landscape. These paintings are about that ‘grey-green’ I saw in front of me.
