London Woodland

London Woodland

These paintings were made in Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park.

Unlike some Victorian city cemeteries in London this one had not been maintained. It was very over grown when I first began using it as a subject for my paintings.

I found woodland/greenery a fascination within the urban setting. I wanted to understand why the green within the countryside appeared different from the green in the urban landscape. These paintings are about that 'grey-green' I saw in front of me.
